As iron oxide pigments have good weathering, alkali and light resistance, these properties are not found in other inorganic or organic pigments. Therefore, iron oxide pigments are used as coatings and colouring in construction materials. Such as wall finishes, artificial marble, millstone floors and the colouring of silicate products. Iron oxide yellow is used on coloured cement or concrete runways, on temple facades and moats around palaces, and iron oxide red is used for surface finishing.
